If you could choose any place in the world to live, where would it be?
Scotland. I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to
visit Scotland for an entire month while in college. It felt
like going home.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Several things, a doctor, a model, a veterinarian, and any
and all professions involving horses
Your occupation now?
Officially I work for McDonald's as a 2nd Assistant Manager,
but I just graduated with a BA in Art, emphasis in
Photography, so I'm also a Photographer, I just don't make
much money at it.
What are some of your interests and hobbies?
I love music, it is a big part of my life. As far as hobbies
are concerned, I've been in college for four (and one half)
years, there was no time for hobbies. Now I suppose it's
reading, watching movies, making scrapbooks, jewelry making,
and I'd really like to get into making mosaics.
What would you say are your character strengths?
I'm very confident in myself, my abilities, and my
intelligence.
Weaknesses?
That very same confidence could be construed as arrogance,
and I'm not very good at hiding that. Most of the time when
my boss tells me I sounded rude, I have no idea what she is
talking about (side note: she is a redhead also!)
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I lack self discipline lately. I procrastinate, I can't keep
up my healthy eating, and I can never follow my own plans.
Do you have any quirks you think are strange or amusing?
My entire being centers around being strange and amusing,
I've always been that way.
Who is/was the most influential person/role model in your life?
My mother, everyone in my life says that I'm just like my
mother, but I haven't yet found out if that's a good or a
bad thing.
What are your achievements/accomplishments that you are the most proud of?
I'm very proud of graduating from college. I'm the first in
my family to attend college right out of high school, and I
did it without taking any breaks. I also received a 32 on my
ACTs, I was very proud of that.
Are you currently single, involved, or married?
Engaged and we are planning a wedding for September 23,
2006. He's embracing my Scottish side and the men are
wearing kilts, and we will be using Scottish shortbread
(homemade) as favors.
What qualities do you find the most attractive in other people?
I'm attracted to genuinely nice people. I can always tell if
someone is being fake or arrogant, and it usually turns me
away. It doesn't help that I seem to think I'm better than
most everyone else. I don't think it's quite that I'm
better, I just usually don't have a problem distinguishing
those that are less intelligent than I.
What is one thing you would change about the world?
I'd love to fix the pet overpopulation problem.
What is your favorite food?
Ice cream and then anything Italian.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose?
Walter Farley or Marguerite Henry, though I'm not sure what
I'd say, they are the authors of my favorites horse books.
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do with the money?
I would set up a spay/neuter clinic in the Midwest, for cats
and dogs. I'd also donate to SNAP, a spay/neuter
organization that sets up clinics in Mexico.
Do you consider yourself a spiritual person?
I've always had more of a scientific connection with the
earth, than a spiritual.
Is there any particular historical era that you feel drawn to?
I absolutely love attending Renaissance Faires, and as far
as art, my favorite periods are Greek/Roman and
Contemporary/Modern/Postmodern
What are your favorite books and authors?
I'm a Harry Potter fan, I'd like to try the Lord of the
Rings books again, I read as many horse books as I could put
my hands on when I was little, and I tend to read books by
young women such as myself.
What are your favorite movies?
I love tons of movies, movies are a big part of my life,
mostly because my Fiance is such a movie buff, but a few
favorites are the Lord of the Rings movies, the Star Wars
series, Harry Potter, The Wedding Singer, and a lot more.
What is your most prized possession?
My Nikon D70
What is your favorite color?
Purple, and my favorite color combination is purple and red.
What are your favorite television shows?
Crossing Jordan, L&O, Criminal Intent, SVU, Viva La Bam,
Jackass, I love the 80's, I love the 90's
What are some of your pet peeves?
Ignorance, hypocrisy, and people who kick the back of my
seat at the movie theatre.
What are some of the issues that you are passionate about?
Backyard Breeding, Puppy Mills, Animal Abuse, GLBT rights.
Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
Yes, I have both. As far as tattoos, I began when I was 18
with a stick faery on the back of my neck. When I was 19 I
put a tribal Pegasus on my chest. Then, just this past
April, at 22, I had a drawing of my (deceased) grandpa put
on my left arm (closest to the heart). My next works include
a Celtic animal (probably a lion but I haven't decided yet)
and a full back piece of a collage that I made in high
school that has two bat-winged Pegasus leaping out of a tree
with waves and more trees in the background. Right now for
piercings I just have five in my ear lobes and my septum
done, but I have had 10 in my ears (five in the cartilage
and five in the lobes), my labret (took that out and it's
cost me $1500 to fix the damage to my teeth), and both
nipples.
What is one thing you hope to accomplish before you die?
I really want to live in Scotland and get my Masters in
Photography, and I will hopefully be able to do both at the
same time. I also would love to be known as a photographic
artist.
What is something you've always wanted to do/try but haven't yet?
I want to try my hand at making mosaics. We are renovating
our house right now, and that includes tiling the bathroom
and kitchen, so I've informed my fiance that he should keep
all the broken tiles. I've also been told to dumpster dive
at tile stores for pieces, so I guess we'll see where this
leads.
Where do you see yourself ten years (what are your goals)?
In ten years I will have my MA in photography and possibly
(hopefully) still be living in Scotland, married, and have
two children (don't tell my mother, she'd be heartbroken if
she found out I wanted to raise her grand babies in
Scotland...Then again, she may just move there too)
What is your favorite quote?
"Don't be afraid of the differences in others, and don't be
afraid to show off the differences in yourself" - Jaci Lee
McCaskell
