If you could choose any place in the world to live, where would it be?
Ireland. I love greenery and as I am highly allergic to smoking, it's one of the few places in Europe that has banned smoking in public places.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be so many things, a doctor, a dancer, a writer, and fashion designer, but mostly I wanted to work in the family business of television.
Your occupation now?
I am currently an assistant at a TV production company.
What are some of your interests and hobbies?
I am an avid reader, riding a bus for 5 hours a day offers
me a lot of reading time and I go through a 400 page book
in a week or less. I read sci-fi, fantasy, thriller,
mystery, and when I find a writer I like I devour every
book they have written and impatiently wait for new ones.
I am getting back into tennis again; my husband and I go
out to the local parks and play a few sets laughing at how
badly we both play now.
And since I work in TV I also watch a lot of TV. I have
been called a TV zombie by my husband.
What would you say are your character strengths?
I am a good
listener. I have always been the resident listener among my
friends and some of my family members too, I have also been
known to give advice when asked for it, I don't mind being
the confidant for them all, it just gets a little hard when
I need one too. Thankfully I have my husband and a few
friends that will let my rant when needed. I am a loyal
friend, no matter what I am there if needed. I also have a
strong connection to family, I am very close with them and I
love to visit for hours with my grandparents. My husband is
getting used to this.
Weaknesses?
I am lazy! Due to an illness I was not able to
exercise for a while but now that I am better I can again
but I find myself far too comfortable to get up and do it. I
am a creature of habit and comfort.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
My allergies. If I could finally live with out the
constricting of my lungs around smokers or smell flowers
without the sneezes and watery eyes that would be a real
treat for me. As for anything else, no, because I like who
I am right now and without all the mistakes in my past I
would not be that person today. Okay, if I could afford the
laser surgery to correct my vision I would totally do that!
Do you have any quirks you think are strange or amusing?
I
am very good at running into walls and doors. I cannot walk
a straight line, I always seem to veer off to the right or
left and I end up running into walls and doors, it's really
funny to watch and I laugh at myself all the time. I'm such
a klutz. The only other odd thing is my head, I have been
known to dent things with and it doesn't do a thing to me,
but try to comb my hair for me and I'll scream in pain
(stylists hate me). Go figure!
Who is/was the most influential person/role model in your life?
My mom has been a good role model for me, we are both
survivors and although my teen years were hell on us both,
now we are much closer and have a better understanding of
one another.
What are your achievements/accomplishments that you are the most proud of?
I am proud of little things in my life. Of
being on an Olympic training team for gymnastics as a child,
of playing the piano, of singing in the high school choir,
of graduating college, making the deans list, of working on
short films that have won recognition at festivals and of
planning my recent wedding. The list goes on too.
Are you currently single, involved, or married?
I was
married in June of this year.
What qualities do you find the most attractive in other people?
Honesty, passion, imagination, honor, not taking
things at face value, and the ability to think for ones
self. All the things I found in my husband and in my
friends as well.
What is one thing you would change about the world?
Setting
all the political possibilities aside, I would aim higher
and say that I would like to save the environment. Our
planet needs to be taken care of; we have damaged it so much
that if we don't take drastic steps to correct this damage
now we could find our beautiful world is beyond saving.
Oh and I would go Crocodile Dundee on the butts of wolf
poachers!
What is your favorite food?
Too many to say I have one
favorite. I love pasta, in Chinese food or Italian, and I
am a huge bread fan too. Obvious I don't buy into that low
card BS. But to pick one thing I guess I would have to say,
pastrami on rye from Jerry's Famous Deli. Once a year I go
for my birthday and get this giant sandwich, it's my special
treat. Oh, and a close second would be the Tower of
Chocolate (I got it in Chicago at Oprah's restaurant) Layers
of chocolate pound cake & chocolate mousse built into a
tower, what's not to love?
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose?
My husband's father. He died of brain cancer 6
months before I started dating my husband, and I would
cherish the opportunity to meet him.
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do with the money?
I would pay off
my mother's bills and buy her a house, not huge thing but a
nice simple house of her own. She sacrificed so much and
lost so much in her life that I would be thrilled to give a
little back to her. I would also buy a small home for my
self and take a trip to Europe. It's always been a goal of
mine to go to Europe. I would give donations to the
National Arbor Day Forest and National Wildlife Fund. I
would also make a donation to the Nezperce tribe which cares
for wolf packs on their lands.
Do you consider yourself a spiritual person?
Not in the
organized religion sense. I believe in many things and they
do not all fit into one definition. I really hate labels.
Is there any particular historical era that you feel drawn to?
I like to romanticize other time periods but the reality
of them isn't all that appealing. I like the current times
but I wish we had peace.
What are your favorite books and authors?
The Disc World Series - Terry Pratchett
The Sword of Truth Series - Terry Goodkind
Sherlock Holmes (all volumes) - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
The Seven Waters Trilogy (and other works) - Juliet Marillier
The works of Shakespeare
The works of Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child
The Works of Dan Brown
The works of Agitha Christie
The (Detective Campion) works by Margery Allingham
The list goes on, I love to read.
What are your favorite movies?
Anne of Green Gables/Avonlea
(mini series for PBS), Somewhere In Time, Peter's Friends,
It Started With Eve, Pride & Prejudice (mini series for
A&E), Jane Eyre (Orson Wells), Ever After, Empire Records,
Thoroughly Modern Millie, Harvey, Arsenic & Old Lace, The
Lord of The Rings Trilogy, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home,
Star Trek: First Contact, Star Wars Trilogy(the original
films), Harold & Maude, Strictly Ballroom, All the Harry
Potter films (so far), etc.
As a film major I have way too many favorite films.
What is your most prized possession?
The photographs of my
late father and my husband's late father.
What is your favorite color?
Again I don't have one
favorite; I love blues, greens, purples, deep reds. They
are all on my list.
What are your favorite television shows?
Star Trek: The Next
Generation, Gilmore Girls, Scarecrow & Mrs. King, Monster
House, Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine,
Farscape, Young Riders, Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends,
The Grimm Adventures of Billy & Mandy, Law & Order
(Original, SVU, & Criminal Intent), Mystery (PBS),
Masterpiece Theatre (PBS), Jeopardy, etc.
What are some of your pet peeves?
Dirty Dishes in the sink,
Wet towels on the floor, Cracking knuckles, dirty cars,
cats.
What are some of the issues that you are passionate about?
The environment! Endangered species like wolves, whales,
etc. I am passionate about the separation of church &
state, of women's rights, research of AIDS/HIV, Breast
Cancer awareness, Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention. I
have a lot of passion in me.
Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
I have earrings, two
holes in each ear. After my old holes closed up I got new
ones then a few years ago the old holes opened up again so
now I have two in each ear.
What is one thing you hope to accomplish before you die?
I'd
like to win an Emmy.
What is something you've always wanted to do/try but haven't yet?
I'd like to travel to Europe, I've never been anywhere
(well, I did go to Canada when I was very young)
Where do you see yourself ten years (what are your goals)?
I try not to look that far into the future, things
never seem to work out the way you envision them too, so I
try to keep my focus on the now.
What is your favorite quote?
"Out of the night that covers
me, black as the pit from pole to pole, I thank whatever
gods there be, for my unconquerable soul." It's a poem I
read once but I cannot remember where or who wrote it. But
it is something I have always drawn strength from.
