If you could choose any place in the world to live, where would it be?
That's hard to say. I'd like to live somewhere beautiful, in the mountains,
with a wonderful view, and lots of hiking nearby. I'd also like to live
somewhere exciting, with lots of shopping, and fascinating people nearby. I
think, given the choice between the two, I'd want the mountains more.
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was little, I just wanted to be alive when I grew up. And,
attractive. I didn't have many occupational goals. My mom would say to me,
"Just don't become a secretary." She considered herself a feminist. Women
in her generation felt they had to be extremely pro-active with their
careers, or they would become pitiful little housewives. When I was young,
I really didn't want to work when I grew up, and I didn't want to have kids.
So, my goals were sort of skewed, I guess. Getting through school was
enough of a goal for me.
Your occupation now?
I have a detail-oriented job at a record label. My main duty is to hunt
down publishers, and to send them compulsory licenses for songs that our
bands perform on our releases. I also create label copy for all of our
releases, making sure that every department in our company, from production
to licensing to royalties, has accurate information on our releases.
What are some of your interests and hobbies?
Writing, reading, watching independent films, hiking, camping, traveling,
doodling, hanging out in extremely laid-back bars and coffee shops, and
sipping expensive wine.
What would you say are your character strengths?
When I am passionate about what I am doing, I can do anything. In times of
adversity, I will stand up to the challenge, and give 100% of my efforts to
the cause.
Weaknesses?
When I am not passionate about what I am doing, I can screw up anything.
For example, when I'm bored with a project at work, I will not be able to
pay attention, and I will make foolish errors.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
I wouldn't be so shy in certain situations. I would see my superiors as
equals, and my inferiors as equals, and I would be able to talk to EVERYONE
as my equal. I have a tendency to base my shyness on how much I respect the
people in my presence.
Do you have any quirks you think are strange or amusing?
I can flare my nostrils like a bunny rabbit. I am quirky, giggly, and odd.
Who is/was the most influential person/role model in your life?
Dunno. Perhaps, my parents, or Martha Stewart. Really, I'm not sure.
What are your achievements/accomplishments that you are the most proud of?
Truthfully, I'm most proud that I made it this far in life without
contracting an STD, or a serious mental illness.
Are you currently single, involved, or married?
Involved. However, I have trouble commiting to just one person. Unless I
find Mr. Perfect, I'm going to bounce from man to man my whole life.
What qualities do you find the most attractive in other people?
I like people who are strong, motivated, and who have definite goals for
their life.
What is one thing you would change about the world?
I wish we humans wouldn't have destroyed the world. I wish that there were
fewer of us, and that we occupied much less of the total land mass on earth.
I wish global warming wasn't happening so quickly.
What is your favorite food?
Oh, gosh, what don't I like? I like 'elegant' and 'expensive' food, of
course. I like anything vegetarian that tastes good. I also am a dessert
junky, prefering sloppy desserts with lots of whipped cream, hot fudge, and
vanilla ice cream.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would you choose?
Probably Joni Mitchell. Though, if she said one word to me, my soul would
dissolve into suds and water, and I'd be washed away by my jitters.
If you won the lottery tomorrow, what would you do with the money?
I'd fly all over the world. I'd make it a goal to see 100 countries within
a year or so.
Do you consider yourself a spiritual person?
Sometimes. Not excessively, though. I usually don't say much more to the
Great Spirit than, "What the F***?"
Is there any particular historical era that you feel drawn to?
Perhaps, the late 1800s. The world was beginning to become industrialized.
Telephone lines and electricity were in the process of being invented, but
they weren't in use, yet. It was probably a very exciting time to be alive.
What are your favorite books and authors?
Tom Wolfe, Emily Bronte, Dean Koontz (though he creeps me out, he's a good
writer), Tom Robbins (he needs to write another one!), umm Suzanne Lipsett,
and more.
What are your favorite movies?
I like several of the independent flicks. I generally like the
Oscar-nominees, such as Mulholland Drive, Sideways, and Million Dollar
Baby. I like well-crafted, creative films, such as Eternal Sunshine for the
Spotless Mind.
What is your most prized possession?
Probably, my clothes. My clothes are my most useful possession. I don't
own much furniture right now, and, if I were to move, my clothes are mostly
all I would bring with me. Oh, my car, and my computer are important, as
well. I don't have a box of "prized possessions" that are super-important
to me. A year ago, I moved across the country, from Utah to North Carolina.
All I brought with me was my computer, my bike, my clothes, my cat, and a
few stuffed animals. Oh, and my mini vacuum cleaner. That was pretty
important.
What is your favorite color?
My favorite color fluctuates between brown, and purple. Brown is a nice,
friendly, accepting color, and it reminds me of antique furniture, earth,
and home. Purple is a fun, exciting color.
What are your favorite television shows?
I like Malcolm in the Middle, King of the Hill, and other silly shows.
What are some of your pet peeves?
I have a mean temper, and it comes out when I hear thumping bass. If you
want me to snap, play music with thumping bass in my presence. I will go
from zero to monster in less than ten seconds.
What are some of the issues that you are passionate about?
I care lots about the environment. I wish hybrid cars were cheaper, because
it would save lots of gas. I care lots about the earth.
Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
My belly button is pierced. I have two tattoos on my back--a four-leaf
clover, and a butterfly. When I put my nose to the ground, I find lots of
four-leaf clovers. I got the butterfly tattoo because it was pretty.
What is one thing you hope to accomplish before you die?
I would like to publish a book, and have it become famous. I would like to
find my soul mate.
What is something you've always wanted to do/try but haven't yet?
I've wanted to do something wild, like hike the Appalachian trail for a
summer. However, I don't think I'd like to do it alone, and I don't have
anyone to hike it with. I would hike it alone, but I have an obsessive, and
unrealistic fear of encountering a bear in the woods. I'd feel much safer
with another human being around.
Where do you see yourself ten years (what are your goals)?
I will have a novel published, a good chunk of money in savings, and I
will have traveled to at least 15 countries. Seriously, I'll probably have
three kids, be broke, and have an even more jaded attitude than I have,
already.
What is your favorite quote?
"We're only particles of change, I know I know, orbiting around the sun, but
how can I have that point of view, when I'm always bound and tied to
someone?"
