Self-Description: I am a tall (5'9") curly haired mom, wife, and elementary
teacher who is finding that staying at home for a few years with
the baby can be very satisfying. I'm very enthusiastic about my
interests... teaching, languages, kids. I am truly myself when
I'm with kids. People say they never see me in a dark mood, but
I blow it every so often. I do not stay angry for long and I do
not hold grudges. I don't have a huge circle of friends, but the
friends I have are very close. When sufficiently provoked, I can
be pretty funny. I am outgoing but like to hide in the bathroom
at parties when I don't know many people! I think for this
reason it can take awhile to really get to know me. My husband is
my best friend. I am also wildly in love with my new baby,
Soren.
Children: I have one beautiful 3 month old son named Soren. His
name is Norwegian. He has red hair, too!
Interests: Scrapbooking: I'm just getting into making memory
books, with acid-free materials and lots of paper design... I've
started one for Soren. Lots of work but very fulfilling!
Baking:
the sweet stuff. I have an amazing chocolate chip cookie recipe.
Walking: everyday with my husband and baby. Got to shed those
pregancy pounds!
Traveling: my first love. I've lived in South
America (Brasil), Mexico, Maine, Washington State, and now
Northern California. I love to experience the subtle differences
in culture from place to place... and I love languages (I speak
Spanish and some Portuguese).
Latin American cooking: I picked
this up in my travels.
Reading: I'm a reading
specialist/elementary teacher, so reading is IT for me. I love
novels mostly-- the Oprah club books are usually good. Harry
Potter is excellent too, even though it's a children's series!
More Info: For those of you in tune with children's books: I won
second prize in the national Scholastic Book Club Miss Frizzle
Look-Alike Contest in 1995. (She is the main character in a
series of children's picture/science theme books called the Magic
School Bus-- she has amazingly red and frizzy hair and dresses in
clothing that matches the science lesson she's teaching). It is
also a cartoon on PBS, I think.
