Self-Description: I'm 26
years old and have lived in Canada for the past 6 years. I was
born and raised in southeast England. I graduated from college
with an associate in science degree, and I now go to university
and have nearly finished a chemical engineering/chemistry honours
degree. I live in Vancouver, and I love it! The people, ocean,
mountains, forest, night life, opportunities and just about
everything gives me a rush. I finished highschool in England and
thought I'd never go back to school.
I did some travelling and working around England, Canada, and the
US for about 4 years. I mostly was a nursing assistant,
bartender, waitress, and home support worker through the ministry
of social services. I also spent three months travelling across
canada and the states by thumb. My grandmother lives in New
Brunswick, which is the otber side of Canada (3000 miles away) so
I managed to meet her for the first time on that trip, although
I'd never use my thumb to get around again as it is very
dangerous. After that, I decided to go back to school. Canada
has a good student loan program. England has some kind of loan
system. I spent one year in Japan through a university co-op
program. I worked in a cement company in the cement chemistry
group. I came back last year (99). That was an eye-opener for
sure. I'd like to get a full time job that has a connection to
Japan someday. Right now I'm working in downtown Vancouver as an
engineer with a consulting and engineering firm (until September
when I go back to university). It's a great job with great
people who like to joke a lot, which is very refreshing for an
engineering crowd. In the future, I'd like to do some work in
developing countries, helping out a bit if I can. I know some
people who want to build a school in nigeria, so that me be a
route to take. For the next ten years or so, though, I'd like to
pay off my student loan and help a good friend get back on her
feet. As far as relationships go, I'm single. I'm not sure if
I'm looking for a boyfriend or not at the moment. I'm trying to
get balanced a bit I suppose.
Interests: Volleyball, netball, swimming (in the ocean at night especially), rollerskating, cycling, badminton, Japanese culture and language, hiking, eating out!
