Self-Description: I am the recent victim of a tragic home haircoloring incident. In an attempt to rid myself of the dozen or so gray hairs that resided within my red hair, I colored my hair with Clairol Balsom Light Auburn. The results turned my hair dark brown with purple highlights! It was not until that moment that I realized that being a REDHEAD was a major part of my identity. Being a REDHEAD was who I was. I WAS A REDHEAD DAMMIT. I did not know this brown/purple haired woman in the mirror. I washed and rewashed my hair 35 times in the next 3 days. No luck. Still a brunette. The internet offered no help in removing this nasty mess from my hair but I did run across the Realm for Redheads site! I was hoping that by joining, I would find some advice on how to safely color my fiery red hair and cover up a few gray hairs without looking like some freak.

Well, to make a long story short...after finding no help on the Internet on how to return my hair to it's former redheaded glory...I impulsively grabbed Loreal Hair Color remover from the shelf of the local Walmart. In big red letters on the side it warned, "CAUTION, WILL TURN HAIR RED/ORANGE. HAIR MUST BE RE-COLORED IMMEDIATELY." So, after much thought, I purchased some more hair color...only going lighter with Strawberry Blonde. I tried the Hair Color Remover and GLORY BE!!! That awful "CAUTION" about turning my hair red/orange was a blessing in disguise. This red/orange was actually close to my natural hair color! No need to color over this! THIS WAS ME!!!!!!
