Self-Description: I'm a free-spirited, independent, passionate woman - a
true redhead if you buy the stereotypes. I just finished my masters degree in
Industrial and Labor Relations (try saying THAT ten times fast!) To my delight
and amazement, in the last year I've found both an affordable apartment in my
favorite part of Manhattan and the absolute perfect job. Now I'm organizing with
the Musicians' Union, combining my two greatest passions (music and the labor
movement.) and soaking up all that my favorite city has to offer.
The best way to
get in good with me is to love my dogs, Taio and Raven - quite possibly the
coolest canines ever. I have fairly strong social and political views, but I try
really hard not to impose them on others. Sometimes it works. :) I'm pretty
independent, kind, dreadfully stubborn, responsible but playful, witty, honest,
open-minded and loyal to a fault. Let's see, what else? Oh yeah, I've been a
vegetarian for almost 17 years (an Ovo-lacto-fishy-fishy, as one of my friends
puts it), although I'll eat it if I know who killed it. Also, I just began
training for my second marathon. 26.2, here I come again!
Interests: I'm a city girl to my core and wouldn't want to live anywhere else, but I'm also an extremely outdoorsy woman. When I leave the city, I REALLY leave it...I love hiking, kayaking, romping through the woods, you name it. I can often be found singing to myself and running in circles. I'm an avid reader and I try to stay pretty well-rounded. I also live for music, and will travel silly distances for a good live performance - especially folk. I'm increasingly interested in design, art, and aesthetics, interests which are easily sated in my current digs. I've played the piano for many many years, and I sang in a chamber choir all through college. Oh yes, I'm also an avid baseball fan - and don't give me any garbage for loving the Yankees, since I was a fan all through the unfortunate 80's.
