Self-Description: Apparently the red-headed gene skips about in our family. I am the
youngest of three, all with red hair despite the fact that neither of our parents are
red-heads. One grandmother had red hair on one side of the family, and that was about it
until my generation. Now, aside from my siblings, I have one cousin who's a red-head and
my sister has two sons with red hair.
My siblings and I all started with bright orange hair. My sister's lightened to
strawberry, which annoys her to no end as no one believes she's really a red-head. My
brother and I both have had the color of our hair darken as we've aged, but mine's a
darker shade of red than his is.
Aside from family, my experiences with red heads have been numerous, and always amusing.
There's something of a common bond one red-head feels for another. When I went to college
I joined a creative writing group in which I was one of six red-heads!
At times I definitely fit the stereotype of the red-head: fiery temper, aggressive, and
highly passionate . Of course at other times I
have different qualities, so I wouldn't describe myself as fitting a stereotype per se.
