Self-Description: I was born a chubby baby with blood red hair and according to my Mom a sweet disposition (poor thing didn't know what she'd gotten into--I guess I put on the charm for her so that later on she wouldn't get rid of me when I started being a "know it all".). As an adult I'm a tall, auburn-haired woman who is a combination of outspoken seriousness and utter silliness mixed with a decent helping of the mythical red head temper on my bad days (luckily for my husband that isn't often).

When I was younger I used to travel out of the country all the time (I've been to Egypt, Greece, Finland and Russia) but for 17 years I haven't been out of the country except for Canada and I've been going stir crazy! But this October (2001)I'm going to Japan for two weeks with my dearest gal-pal and I can't wait!!! I feel like a part of me has been in hibernation--only arm-chair world travelling-- and now, finally, I will get to crawl out of my library/TV documentary cave and experience other cultures like I loved to do when I was younger! Watch out Japan! This kitsune-haired, anime otaku, crazy wood dragon gaijin woman is headed your way! Oh...okay...that's all smoke and mirrors--actually I'm studying very hard to learn enough of the Japanese language and about thier modern culture and polite behavior so that I can get around without embarrassing myself too badly...or get lost in Tokyo...or start a war...

Hmmm...the redhead who launched a thousand diplomatic briefs...hmmm...that sort of has a dramatic ring to it doesn't it (insert evil smile here)?

Looking at this description you would think I talk alot, but really, it is something about e-mail or snail mail that makes me go on ad nauseum until my reader starts foaming at the mouth and falls over backwards into a stupor. My apologies!

Children: I have an Amazon Blue Front Parrot that is 7 years old. Her name is Modi. My husband and I don't want children but sometimes we spoil Modi as if she were our only child!

Interests: As I mentioned before I love to travel! I'll travel anywhere but I really like traveling out of the US because I like experiencing other cultures and meeting new people and learning how they view the universe from thier perspective.

I'm a huge biblioholic. I read all the time! Some of my friends have nicknamed me "Bookwoman". I like fantasy and some sci-fi for fiction books and ancient history (especially Celtic and Egyptian), cultural history, women's history, archealogy, metaphysics, neo-paganism, ancient and comparative modern religions, Arthurian legends, and travel essays/books for non-fiction reading.

I used to do lots of embroidery and even did a model piece for a designer that was a huge piece based on the Arthurian legend of "Gareth and Lynette". I still do it sometimes to relax but my creative outlet right now seems to be writing anime fan fiction and working on my own personal website design for anime fan and cel gallery collection purposes.

I'm a huge fan of movies. If I have my choice I'll watch foreign and the older US movies (Cary Grant and Greta Garbo are my two fav classic actor/actresses) , but I also like some of the independent films that have come out of the US in the last 10 years. I'm also a huge Jackie Chan fan. My favorite movie last year was "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". Ang Lee is one of my fav directors--he also directed Emma Thompson's version of Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility" which is another one of my fav movies. Sally Potter who directed "Orlando" and "The Tango Lesson" is my other favorite modern director. David Lean and George Cukor are my favorite "classic" movie directors.

When I was a kid I loved anime (Speed Racer and Kimba) and then it seemed to drop out of the American TV scene. Well three years ago I had a friend who was teaching English in Japan and she got hooked on an anime series called "Fushigi Yuugi" and she brought home all these art books. That is what got me started in my current obsession with Japanese manga and anime art and plots. I'm really picky as to what I like and mostly like the stuff that has just started coming over here in the last year or so (I saw a good deal of them in fansub). If there are any other anime fans out there for the series "Fushigi Yuugi" and Yuu Watase's newest series "Ayashi no Ceres", let me know! I also like tons of other anime although I'm not too fond of most of what they show on american TV and get most of my stuff on DVD or on fansubbed videos. I spend way too much money on my collection of anime cels. I'd rather have a good Hotohori or Nuriko or Tasuki cel over jewelery or clothes ANY DAY!

For non-anime related TV I like "Iron Chef", "Whose Line is it Anyway?", stuff on TLC and The History channel, "Six Feet Under", "Sex in the City", Showtime's "Stargate" and until it was recently cancelled the series "The Lone Gunman".

I guess that's it! I probably told all of you more than any of you want to know!
