I hated my red hair growing up. I was the only redhead in my elementary school and one of the two in my middle school. And for that reason I was teased horribly! I hated being different, so much that I wanted black hair. I even went so far as to get a black wig and see what I looked like, it was death warmed over!

I like it more now and I am just barely an adult. I embrace my individuality now and I am loving it! People tell me all the time how lovely my hair is. Though I will say that all of the redhead products are darned expensive! Maybe as I keep getting older, I will love my hair more than I do now. I pray that it stays as red!

[Regarding the stereotypes:] I think you are told all of your life you should be this way because you are redheaded that sometimes you try to live up to that standard when that is not really who you are. Me personally I am that way...very quick tempered. I also have a big heart sometimes to big I want to try to help everyone and a lot of times I forget about myself.

As a little kid growing up I hated being a redhead. When you're little all kids wanna do is fit in and being, or at least feeling as though your the only redheaded kid, is hard. I got teased all the time about my red hair. So much that when I was old enough I actually bleached it blonde cause I thought that would help me fit in. That didn't last long. I let it all grow back to my natural red color. Turns out, redheads have more fun than blondes!!

I've been in the military for 9 years now, and the bond with my soldiers and people I work with is only slightly stronger than with most redheads I meet and get to know. We almost all had hard childhoods, and we all can talk about it and know exactly what the other is meaning because we went thru it. I think the size of this club should show that.

You know, the weird thing, is that red hair is a Fetish. It's one of the only Fetishes that causes Freaks to flock around you and start stalking you. It creeps me out. There was once a man I knew who wrote a screenplay that featured a Redhead as the lead role. Well, to him, I became that character. He tried to "woo" me over even though he was married and I was a newlywed. (his wife, by the way, had died her hair to keep him attracted to her - FREAKS!) Advice? Well, we like the attention, but don't get all WEIRD on us.

A bit of advice....dont mention the hair right away, we love our hair, and we know its beautiful (not meant to be conceited) otherwise we wouldn't have it, so please, approach us like you would anyone else, there is a lot more that makes us beautiful than our hair. thank you drive thru please :o)~
