A girl I used to work with told me that when she first met me she thought I was going to be a really nasty person because of my nose ring, my tattoos and my red hair. I was shocked, because, in general, I consider myself to be a fairly easy going person. I get upset when someone assumes something about me based on how I look-whether it's because of my hair, the way I dress, or whatever. However, I do tend to be very passionate about the things that are important to me, and I have that notorious redhead/Irish temper. It takes a lot to bring the anger out, though.

It may be a little forward, but I have been asked by women "Okay, so that's red, but what color is the _rest_ of your hair?" Admittedly it's a little embarassing (even for lovers of world renown such as myself), but I always think it's amusing and I have to recognize that it takes courage to ask something like that. Besides, it always sparks an interesting conversation.

Red hair is the best fashion trademark. I will always stand out because of the red hair. I love that. People never forget who you are cause you're the one "with the red hair". You stand alone simply because of this trait.

One time, I was sitting with some friends at a party and this guy comes from out of no where and says to me, "You are her! You're the girl that I followed on the freeway for over an hour! I'd never forget that gorgeous hair!" I assured him it probably wasn't me, but he was so positive it was me. Then he asked me out.

If you're born with red hair, as I was, you first deal with the teasing, then as a teen and adult, you're dealing with adulation for the same thing you were once teased unmercifully about. I've actually been stupid enough to try and change my hair color, just to see if it brought about a different reaction. It does! I have the skin, the eyes, the personality and the ATTITUDE of a redhead, so, I guess I'll just enjoy the hell out of it and be glad I was lucky enough to be born RED!

When I was taking the entrance exams to get into the air force my hubby-to-be complimented my hair... and he said that is what he noticed me first about me. He was sitting behind me and he saw it move & bounce each time I turned around to hand him a paper. He still says to this day... "I still remember that cute little redheaded girl who sat in front of me at MEPS." I love it when he says that ...it really brings back the memories! I am glad my REDHAIR caught his eye!!!
