Elementary school was a breeze but in addition to being a redhead..the ONLY redhead in the whole school, I was the smallest kid in class. I had to stand on milk crates during our Thursday indoor swimming lessons at our nearby Community Center wearing a purple fruit bikini my mother bought, legs so white they were glowing. I always envied those dark-haired girls with their pretty faces and tanned skin. I was called the typical..carrot top, Pipi Longstockings..etc. I was very withdrawn but luckily being solo a lot made me study more and I was elected the smartest kid in class so I was the special helper on Spelling days. Sooo..the boys that were mean to me never did well on their spelling tests. :)

Life as I once knew it has changed, has been different actually since around the age of 16. I am no longer laughed at and I still lack confidence in my looks but if I am honest here, I have to say I find myself surrounded by and running from men..men everywhere...on my case, in my face, behind me in the street, following me in malls, "Are you married...and with the ever popular second question which always follows...do you cheat?? Not so sure it's the way I look, I really think it's because of the hair.

I personally get annoyed when guys approach me and tell me that the "fire" on my head as large as the fire in their pants...so my only advice is to treat us all just like any other sexy person that you'd want to know! Bringing attention to the hair color right away makes us (especially girls) think that they are only attracted to our looks, when there is so much more!

First of all, do not call me Red unless I give you permission to do so. Also, don't ask me if it is true what everyone says about redheads. (I don't think I need to elaborate on this because I am sure every red haired female has heard what "everyone says about redheads") Most are old wives tales and made up stories. Redheads are special people and should be treated with the same respect as any other person. Just because we have red hair does not give you the right to insult us or treat us with disrespect.

When I worked in a pub, at least 10 times a day I would get asked if I had a bad temper, sometimes repeatedly by the same guy. Now, I don't care what colour hair you have, if the same idiot keeps asking you the same dumb question then eventually you ae going to fire up and then they turn around and say "See!! It is true!" If I am having a bad day and I'm grumpy or I snap at someone I hear comments like "It's the hair".............no it's not, I'm allowed to have a bad day.......everyone has them. But I guess it's no different to a blonde doing something silly. I'm sure the dumb blonde comments fly then too. I do have a temper, but so do a lot of people that don't have red hair. I try not to lose my temper because of the stereotype. It only encourages others to think like that.

Well, luckily, I've never been approached by someone with some weird redhead pickup line. Though I probably have heard every redhead joke in the world, and I admit, I find most of them very funny! One of my favorites is: "Q: How do you get a redhead to argue with you? A: Say something!"

If someone is attracted to me because of my hair color, hell, that's perfectly fine and rather flattering. Though I hope not all of those people only go after redheads because they expect them to fit every cliche. Each redhead is their own individual, we don't follow some sort of redhead code!
