"There is so much more to redheads than the stereotypes. And, admittedly, even redheads ourselves buy into the stereotypes sometimes. Its like we're expected to have tempers, so we *do* have tempers. But, what I think alot of people don't realise is that redheads have a genuine 'bruisability', too. We were heckled and made fun of as kids. We were the ugly, gangly or pudgy, freckled kid that always got picked last for the soccer games...But, as we grew up, we suddenly transformed into this mysterious smouldery interest....So, we've seen the two faces of people. We may be terribly strong and shelled in, but there is a gentle, fragile person within us."
Sally McLean
"I've discovered that it's more a state of mind than just a state of hair colour - to me it means being fiery, outrageous, risky, wild, fun and very Celtic. As I'm also of Scottish descent - I wear my red hair like a badge of my ancestory and really enjoy being different and original. I find it sexy and now it is an essential part of me that I never want to change."

"The most interesting thing that has happened to me on account of my hair? I, uh, haha! I lost my job at Disney World! Well, I didn't get fired or anything, I had to transfer out of Disney. I was working in one of the resorts as a photographer for a restaurant, and one of the managers thought my hair was "too red". I was totally outraged! I was like "Excuse me, I bet you didn't know that I'm half Scottish, my grandfather had hair brighter than this!" But he said that since my hair is not naturally this red I would have to dye it or wear a WIG! I have never been so insulted in all my life! So my co-workers went around and got all the guests to go to the manager and compliment on my hair to him. LOL!"

"I was sitting in a pub with a group of friends, and suddenly one of them leaned over and started brushing my jawline. I asked him what he was doing, and he told me that all natural redheads had a very fine, very soft sort of "peach fuzz" along their jawlines, and he wanted to be sure I was a natural redhead. I informed him that I was, indeed a natural, and he confirmed that I do, in fact, have "peach fuzz" along my jaw, and we had a neat little discussion about red hair. (Incidentally, my sister and my mom both have the fuzz thing too. Apparantly it's a good indication of natural red-headedness.)"
