"Approaching a redhead is not a special talent. You do not have to go to Redheads 101 to learn the right way to approach a us. We are people just like everyone else. (a little more unique and mysterious maybe) Treat us with respect, and do not, no matter how tempting it is, begin the conversation with "red" or "carrots". You may find it cute... it is not."

"I'd lie if I said that I found them [stereotypes] untrue. Maybe it's the whole attention thing again, and everybody is sometimes passionate, but the redheads get remembered for the attribute. Perhaps it's that people are more inclined to recall a shouting redhead than a shouting brunette. Still, every redhead I've known has been a spotlight hog, though that may be due to the fact that we all are repeatedly thrust there from the earliest days of our childhood. We all had to learn to live with it, one way or another."

"I like being a redhead. I find my red hair and my eyes to be my two best aspects of myself next to my personality. But the only thing that bothers me the most is the people out there who dye their hair red (or at least try to dye it red) and end up getting bright orange or mahogany colours. And then they go out acting like they run the party or something, gives us real redheads a bad name."

"I think that there are much better things to spend your time doing. Why obsess over or worship anything? Doesn't it seem silly? I love shoes but I don't obsess over and worship them. (OK, maybe I do. SO WHAT?!) Society these days is such that you can't just appreciate something anymore, it's such a "fetish-friendly" society. I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with having a fetish (see above) but we're just people. People with red hair."

"Treat us like people. Don't comment on the hair (unless it's someone you don't want to start something meaningful with, like a friendship or relationship.) We know we have beautiful hair- I'd like to hear something else flattering. Once you're in, though, feel free to flatter away (because many of us are obsessed with our hair and like to share that obsession *once we're comfortable with you! (My best male friends and my husband love my hair, but they didn't let me know until we were comfortable together.)"

"I prove almost every stereotype about redheads correct. I'm a great lover, passionate and affectionate, quick tempered with an unbeliveable amount of attitude, but I believe it to be pure coincidence."
