Unfortunately, I fit the redhead stereotype. I'm hot-tempered, stubborn, passionate, prone to fits of rage, self-centered, and expect the world to revolve around me. The way I see it, the reason I'm so self-centered is because society has made me this way. If they had not made such a big deal about my hair color and singled me out as "special" because of it, I would be as well-adjusted and normal as any other human being in this world :)

[Many of us feel like we have an unspoken bond with each other. Do you feel this way about other redheads?] Not really. Most redhead women I know are not natural and I find it very disturbing, because the colour isn't quite right. Or the skin tone, or the eyebrows. If I meet a woman with natural hair, I tend to fall for them a little. I just don't know any males with my colour hair. If I meet any there seems to be an uneasy grunt of acknowledgement and that's it.

I never minded being singled out, what the heck, it was attention and that can always be nice! Everyone has always asked me if it was natural or said they envied me for my hair color. Men either adored it or ignored it...Other women wanted it or were jealous of it, I think. Redhead women command attention and are noticed more. One man said to me out of the blue, "don't ever cut or change your hair, it is your sex appeal." I am still working on that one, ha ha. I guess the best thing I ever heard was I looked like a Celtic Queen and the worst thing I ever heard was that I was just another silly, stupid redhead (?)

[Many of us feel like we have an unspoken bond with each other. Do you feel this way about other redheads?] Yes, I do believe there is something to that and I sincerely think that it stems from the fact we share a common burden when we are growing up. Because of this, I think reds in general tend to be much more sensetive and empathic with each other and everyone around us. I cannot seem to find the right words to fully desribe it, but I draw the anology of a similar bonding from my years in the fire service. When you share a stressful experience or background, you are much more likely to relate on a deeper level than you can with anyone else. Thus the reason that reds bond with each other.

Occasionally I still have the random blunt-skulled nit-wit that calls me red or carrot top... but they usually don't do it a second time. More often than not, I hear someone saying something about red hair and hair-trigger tempers. To which I respond by bellowing "What about it?!" while trying to keep a straight face.

Anyway, I do still put up with some abuse by friends about my red hair and fair complexion. Although they are the only ones that I let get away with it! ;)

When I was a child I hated my red hair. I was always teased about it. I was the only redhead in my immediate family. I have two older sisters, one older brother, and one younger brother. My sisters used to tell me that I was adopted. I believed them at one time and cried! BUT now that I am an adult, I embrace my redhair and love it!! Blondes may have more fun but REDHEADS get more attention LOL

People always tell me that they wish that they could have red hair and that people pay lots of money to have hair like mine. It's sometimes bad how people can identify you easily because of your rare hair color.
